The new X6200 from Xiegu builds on the success of the ground breaking X6100 (although it is an addition to the Xiegu range and does not supercede the earlier model).  It's an HF & 50 MHz (6 m) full mode SDR transceiver with a large 100 mm (4") full colour screen and an easily removable  rechargeable battery for portable use. RF output is 8 W maximum when running on external power, 5 W maximum using the internal battery.

The bright full colour screen incorporates a spectrum/waterfall display, and remains visible in sunlight.  The rig incorporates a pair of protective handles on the front, as well as a pair of flip-out legs, allowing the rig to be positioned at an ideal operating angle on a table.

A 10 to 15 volt regulated DC power supply capable of delivering at least 3A continuous (not included) is recommended for external power.  A 1 A DC power supply with Euro-type two-pin plug is provided for charging the internal battery, but it cannot be used to power the radio independently.

The compact size, light weight and internal battery of the X6200 will endear it to portable operators, and the removable battery means that batteries can easily be changed to allow  prolonged operation.  A digital noise reduction system and noise blanker help to combat unwanted interference, and an adjustable digital filter with three presets is also part of the package. 

The X6200 has an inbuilt high stability 1 ppm TCXO, ATU, SWR scanner and an internal modem for data communications.  Direct decoding of FT8 messages is supported. 

Connectivity options include mini jack sockets and USB type C, while built-in WiFi and Bluetooth allow for wireless audio, keyboards and mice to be connected. A micro-SD card slot is provided for firmware updates (a card is not included).

In addition to voice and data modes (AM, NFM, LSB & USB), the X6200 can also be operated on CW. It has a built-in keyer and the facility to store short CW messages, as well as WFM broadcast and Air Band reception capability.

The new Xiegu rig also has built-in support for WFView Server, allowing easy remote operation.  It also has a voice recording facility that can store up to five 90-second voice messages.

Also incorporated in the X6200 is an expansion card slot, which allows for the possibility of new features to be added by the factory in the future.

The housing of the X6200 is a sturdy but lightweight aluminium extrusion, which incorporates a heatsink. It measures 200 x 89 x 51 mm excluding protrusions.  Weight (excluding microphone) is 975 g.
